Default Snap to Grid

Can someone explain what the hell im doing wrong.

I create a rect
place it on the grid

I want to align the grid with the grid using the top-left vertex as the snapping point. As you can see when I use "gridsnap" it just moves a grid size - rather than aligning to the grid........

How can I get this to work ? - I simply want to create a "patchwork" using rects (all the same demension but different textures)

Switch on gridsnap before creating your rect. Or, if you didn't create the points on the grid, use Vertex->snap to grid to move them to the nearest grid position.

For what you want to to, it may be faster creating a mesh and using Object->fragment to turn each mesh-square into a seperate object (which you can then texture with a different picture).
