Default Polygon Count? AC3D limitations?

I've been trying to figure a way of reducing the polygons on an aircraft model.
It has, get this, objects: 29 surfaces: 1213713 vertices: 637113...

The max we can use for the end application is under 20,000 vertices.

I'm finding that AC3D is having a real tough time dealing with a file this big (appx 70 megs).

I'll give the 'reduce' thingie a try...think it will work?
UPDATER, Again I'm getting "Not Responding" when I try the Reduce mode on this model...what's up?

BTW, I have a new dual processor 64bit machine with 8gigs of RAM.

There are no limits in AC3D but you will naturally see a drop in speed with very large models and A 70 meg file is a considerable size. The 'not responding' is probably just AC3D busy working on your model - check the task manager to see if the cpu/memory for AC3D changes - if it does, then it's working.
