Weld Vertices?

Is it possible to weld vertices? All I see is "snap vertices" which only places two vertices in the same spot but doesn't actually weld them together. Then there is only "optimize" which welds all of the vertices in the object, but is there no way to weld just 2 vertices that you have selected? Thanks!
