Default problem with texture

I am using a PNG file to texture a fenceline. I am using the same texture on mutliple surface items. The texture is not appearing the same on all objects. Even if I copy (duplicate) the original object I created, the image gets altered for some reason and will not appear as it should. What could be happening? As you can see in the attached image, the fenceline on the right does not appear as the fenceline on the left.

And after I select anobject, and then try to use the object property editor [F9], I get nothing but a popup dialog box that says:

Editing object properties

with nothing but a command button labeled "Close"

I suspect what you are seeing is a sort order issue where the fence on the right is being rendered before the ground, but the fence on the left is being rendered after the ground. You can fix this by opening the hierarchy from the tools menu and swapping the order of the fence and the ground in the list.

For the object properties, sometimes the window doesn't open all the way and all you see is the close gadget. (Noticed in the change log apparently this has been fixed in the newer version of AC3D, yea!) In any case, just grab the corner of the window and drag it to resize it and you'll see the rest of the controls.

Thanks Lisa, I will check out both of your suggestions. But, I did play around a bit and discovered if I created a new surface plane for each instance of the fence line, instead of copy or duplicate, and then apply the texture, it works fine. So I'm not sure the order is what is causing the problem. But, I'll see if that has any impact.

Hey Lisa,

The hierarchy did the trick. Thanks for that. It was driving me bonkers.
