Default Splitting groups of small objects

I have an object that is group of smaller individual objects (about 20 in total) that I want to split and save as individual objects. Is there a way that I can select all of the vertices of each smaller object, in turn, and then cut and save as an individual object? When I try to select all of the vertices of an object it inevitably fails to highlight some of the vertices. The only reliable way that I have found so far is to delete all of the objects except the one that I want to to save, and then export, but this is a very tedious process. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

If the hole model is as a group, you can ungroup it. There is a button for that.
But, if the model you want to split, is not part of any group, you can "cut away object" selecting first what you want to "cut/split" and then press the keys: Ctrl+Shift+x
You can make a selection of vertex, or surfaces and then Ctrl+Shift+x

The object is not a "group" in AC3D terms. It is one single object but it consists of lots of sub-objects that I want to split into single objects. The object in question is a collection of taxiway signs that are dotted around an airfield. I have attached a screenshot. I have selected all of the surfaces of one of the signs and used "ctrl-shift-X" but it doesn't seem to cut away the object i.e. it remains on screen. If I use "copy", "new" and then "paste" I can save the individual object.

The Ctrl+shift+x will split the object, but you have to move or hidden or duplicate as required after the split precess.
Try to activate "object mode" on top left of Ac3d UI, and then select the object you have spitted, it should be another new object, it is no longer part of the whole one.
Read the manual for further information... despite, Ac3d is very user friendly.
