Hello.
So I am trying to model the operator seat found in the two operator cabins of the NASA Crawler Transporter (CT or just "Crawler"). I've hit a roadblock in trying to get the corners nice and round. I haven't anything that could help me with this. I have attached a screenshot of what I have currently of the backrest as well as screengrab from the Discovery show "Dirty Jobs" where the show's host Mike Rowe actually got to do some work on one of the belts as well as get to drive the one of the Crawlers during a biweekly checkout back in 2007 that shows partial view of the seat as well as an official NASA Kennedy Space Center (KSC) Public Affairs photo showing a view of one of the United Space Alliance (USA, was the prime contractor for all shuttle operations from 1995-2011) Crawler engineers during a loaded checkout of one of the Crawlers back during 2003 in one of the operator cabins showing the right armrest of the seat. These two images show the rounded smooth corners I want my seat to have. This tour of Crawler Transporter-2 from a year ago, shows the back of the seat nicely: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_-SYqk4RkA Last edited by DaveS; 2nd November 2023 at 12:30 AM. |

I would probably use subdivision. Experiment with by subdividing it, then adding harder edges using bevel or extrude.

I'm not sure I understand. Is there a tutorial or something I could look at? Failing that, I have attached the .ac file to this reply for someone to take a look at.
