Default how to export shapes properly?

i create the car following that tutorial, but i can not export it correctly. i try 3ds, wrl, dxf and stl formats, but none of them can show the texture corrently. i see the car is proper in ac3d 5 with right texture assignment, but in 3ds format, the texture is changed and in the other 3 formats, there is no texture on the car at all. pls help! thanks in advance.

I can't help with the other formats, but I've had good luck exporting textured objects with the OBJ format (Wavefront OBJ).

I have had no problem exporting to .3ds and keeping the mapping formatted correctly, when the file is opened in 3DS Max 3.1 and Z-Modeller.

what programs are you trying to open the .3ds file in? If you are not getting any textures then check the paths for the textures; ie that they are where the other program can find them. That's one of my big mistakes, forgetting to move or caopy across the bitmaps
