Default Chat system added to this forum

I've just added a chat system to the forum - see bottom of main page or click on 'Chat' at the top.

It seems to work OK but let me know if there are any problems with it or the rest of the forum.

Hey that's pretty neat. Is that some type of Java program?

Edit: After checking it out, I logged out but it still showed me as still being active on there.

It's just a simple php extension to phpBB.

It will eventually catch up after you log out.

It's hard to say with me. I keep some pretty freaky hours at all hours of the day and night.
If I'm not here I'm usually playing some Desert Combat and kicking some of those whipper snapper's hiney's.

Remember that users are spread all over the world and many people pop in and out quickly to catch up on the latest stuff. Many users don't log on since they can catch up by reading without logging on.

I'm not sure how we'd fix a meeting in the chat room since the time zones vary so much.

My timezone is GMT. Saying 'meet me at 7pm' doesn't really work.
Let me know if you'd like to fix a chat time - it would be good to see how many users we could have chatting at once.

I am on during the day, afternoon mostly and at night. That'll change next year but not much.

Well I'm from Indiana so that makes me EST time. We Hoosiers don't set our clocks back and forth an hour like the rest of you folks. Nope, dees Hoosiers don't play dat.
Could you suggest some subject matter of interest to our possible conversations to spark deep and meaningful thoughts and pondering? Perhaps a thoughtful question like "How many cups of water can Sponge-Bob Square Pants absorb before becoming water logged?

Maybe if there was a way to show on the top of the forum page how many peeps were in chat or even their names people might be more inclined to join. I know that some would say that the best way to find out how many and who are in chat is to join the chat. But it's been my experience that some people won't join a chat just to check it out because if they decide they want to leave right away it would seem rude. Others don't care.

Just a thought.
