Default exporting a file to .3ds

When I export a .ac file to a .3ds, it gets a little messed up. It becomes totally blue; and it loses its smoothness. I was wondering if anybody knew why this is. :?:

As for the blue, change the materials in the new program.

As for smoothness, perhaps those settings aren't read across the apps, so, again, resmooth in the new program.
