Default Align to Grid

I have a small query.... (about Ac3d )

Im importing a 3D object and trying to align it to the grid. The problem I have is that the imported model comes in the middle of the gridlines. With gridsnap when I move it moves the size of the grid (which I suppose it should do)

What Im after is to snap the object to the gridline instead.

Im sure Im missing something here.....

this might note be what you want, but you could try Vertex>Snap-to-grid

Well it does kind of work.

What I want is that the object boundary snaps to the grid.

If I create a box and use vertex snap to grid - the object turns into a single "plane" instead.

What Im after is Ac3D to import the 3d object pre-aligned to the left/top edge aligned to the grid........

k heres how

notice on the side bar there is a 'size to' button with x/y/z input boxes before it
and a button before the three value boxes, with '>' on it...

the '>' button assigns the value boxes the size of the currently selected object.

try this:

.turn on Grid Snaping
.Make a box that is the size you want your model
.click the '>' button before the 'size to' values,( notice how the values change. )
.delete the box
.open/import your model and select it
.click on the 'size to' button
