Default Glass Erases Texture Behind the Glass

Having a problem with glass windows on a fire station and terminal. When outside the building and looking in, whatever is inside the building disappears. I can see the mountains in the background but no wall or fire trucks. One door is open and the trucks are there, just not there looking thru the glass. Glass has a transparency of about 20%.
I have tried switching normals, changing the hierarchy order, 2S to 1S and back with no change. So, asking for a bit of help in the form a "clue" as to the problem and how to correct it. Any takers out there?
Thanks

Hmmm.... usually hieirarchy change will fix this (it's a common issue when creating the aircraft cockpits and canopies I deal with all the time). The glass should be the lowest in the list, or at least "behind" any object which needs to show "through" the glass. Check your Hierrarchy list. It will probably help if all the glass panes are in ONE object, with the same properties and dropped to the very bottom of the list that appears when you press F8.

Keep in mind that, as you edit, the order of items in the hierarchy will change, so you may have to regularly select those glass panes and place them (back) at the bottom of the list.

Thanks for the reply. Yes did that. Glass is all one obj. Last in line. 2S Here is what it looks like in the list. Any other clues? Maybe?
Thanks

Went in and UNGROUPED everything and still no luck. Cannot seem to attach a picture for you.
Thanks again.

I don't think this will solve your problem, but illustrates what I'm seeing. If the transparent object is at the head of the heirarchy, it does not appear to be see-through. If it is at the tail of the list, objects can be seen through it. In the 3D window itself, Anti-Alias is checked; and this makes a difference for me. If I open a file and don't check Anti-Alias, my 3D view won't show *anything at all*.

Thanks for that.
I made an Orb object and textured with the glass. Placed it in the middle of the fire station, big enough to protrude above the roof a bit. Outside of the orb I can see the trucks and static AC as well as hangars and bldgs I have made, through the orb. The parts of the trucks that the orb is sitting on, cannot see as they are inside the orb. Moving inside the orb, I see the truck parts which were invisible from outside, as well as the static objects seen from outside. Also the AC that I am flying is blocked from view by the orb, when either inside or outside. I place a dup orb out by itself and placing it at the head of my Fire Station Group within WED allows me to see other objects through it. When at the tail of the group, they are not. So, thought maybe placing the glass.obj at the head of the whole airport, I could get results. That didn't help. I will keep trying until I find out why and what the problem is. Thanks though, for your input. Cannot seem to post a picture for you to see.

Did you say the glass has a texture assigned to it? That might be it right there. If that texture is mostly "white" for example, it may be displaying as just that.

Just for grins and giggles, take the texture OFF the glass and see if anything changes.

No, that didn't accomplish anything except to make the orb solid grey. The texture for the glass is on a clear background (checkered) and the color is like glass with about a 20% transparency rating.
so I will keep at it. If you think of anything else which I might try, I would appreciate it.
Thanks

FWIW, for my cockpit glass, my transparency is in the high 80s, never less.... that's my next suggestion.

And, to probe further, why would you want any texture on glass? A highly transparent blue, green or grey material should do the trick without any need for texture...
