Default save as... binary

it would be great if ac3d would offer an optional ac3d file format.. the same format but in binary. this way, i dont have to create a file format converter myself.

thanks.

I've thought about this myself, but when it comes down to it, almost any product using output from AC3D is going to have its own model/graphics tool pipeline.

That means that the ascii format is far superior, since you can preprocess it using a wide variety of stock text parsers before converting it into the final format for your usage.

To sum up: you'll probably need a custom format anyway, so a single AC3D output type (ascii) is a very good thing.

My opinion, of course.

i see your point. but in many cases, im ready to go once the file is saved and any modifications in the file are carried out in the application. for instance, once i encounter an object with name "xyz" i know what to perform with it. so binary or ascii in this case does not make a difference.

thanks.
