Default Greebles on Combined Object Surfaces

Hi,
looking for some advice...

Is there a way that if a number of four-point object surfaces are 'combined' to form a single, multi-point surface, that a Greeble can be applied to it?

Unfortunately I get the following message when applying a Greeble to a combined surface:-

I thought it would be an easy way to create raised 'panels' and surface details, but across large sections of an object, instead of lots of 'little' ones that are applied to each four-point 'panel'.

Thanks
g7sta
