Question more things in Heaven and Earth...

For some reasons until now I had overlooked the "edit material" feature, in particular the possibility of making a material partially or totally transparent. Good!
Imagine my surprise as I found out that such a transparency is selective - or contagious, as you prefer to call it: behind the glass of a watch the dial was perfectly visible in all its details, but the pointers vanished completely together with some other objects behind it. Hiding the glass brought everything back to full visibility.
Is there a way to overcome the inconvenience?

Try making the transparent object (ie the watch glass in your case) the *last* object in the hierarchy list.

No idea coldby ... except obviously it has something to do with the order of things and how they get drawn in the perspective window.

Probably Andy could provide a technical explanation.
