Default exporting textures in x format

I am using Ulead's Cool 3D and need to export the files in .X format
When I do, I lose the texture. Ulead's help says that .X files can be imported in D3D data type which will import the texture, but if imported in C3D the texture is stripped. Is there a plug-in for importing in D3D data type?

Hi Bob,

I have written an extended version of the x file exporter for AC3D which you get via e-mail.

But the problem is 'Ulead Cool 3D' itself. It has some restrictions of importing X files :

- In the file selecting box you must select 'D3D data type'
- The texture file must be a BMP file, not JPG ! I tried it and after converting the texture file from JPG to BMP it works without a problem.
- The x file must not have 'FRAMES' ( 'No Frames' option in my AC3D x exporter. )

Hi Frank

I can get Ulead Cool 3D to import the color, but not the texture. Tried it with a .bmp file (tried with "strip texture file names" box both checked and unchecked) but no success.

Wish I had better news, but it is progress.

It seems that 'Ulead Cool 3D' only accepts bitmap files in a special format.

The width and height of the bitmap ( in pixels ) must have a power of 2.
( 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, ... pixel in width and height. )

Width and height can be quite different however.

There is no need to change the model file after changing the size of the texture file !

Stripping the texture file name in my plugin means that the texture file name only contains the name and the file extension without the path. If you use this, the texture file must be in the same directory like the x file. But you can copy the files without changing the x file.
