Default PLUGIN: Layers

The Layers plugin is available at:

http://supercoldmilk.com/ac3dplug/layer.html

This plugin allows you to arrange your AC3D objects into layers, letting you show/hide/select/deselect entire layers at a time.

AJ MacLeod has ported the Layers plugin to Linux.

This is an Alpha release, so please advise if you see any problems.

Thanks again to AJ for modifying the code for these ports!

The Layers plugin has been updated to version 1.0.1. Changes are:

* FIX: When adding a group of objects to a layer, all child objects are added.

Enjoy

The Layers plugin has been updated to version 1.0.2. Changes are:

# FIX: Corrected code to recognize newer versions of AC3D.
# CHANGED: When "Save layer info in AC3D data" was checked, "ddhlayerx" strings were saved in your objects' Data property, which caused conflicts with POV-Ray renders. This string has been changed to "//dlayerx", which is ignored by POV-Ray.

Enjoy

Default Thanks

Dennis - I finally got around to installing and using the layers plugin. I build models of circuit boards and they get pretty bloated, but your plugin lets me show / hide the more complex components until I'm ready to render / screencap / whatever. thanks so much . If you do any more development on this plugin, I would love to be able to name the layers.

Thanks again

Art

Thanks Art - I've actually found through my own use of the plugin that I'd like to name the layers as well. Haven't figured out a decent enough way to do it that I'd like to implement, though. It'd be easy enough to keep a list of names in a config file, but layer names really should be unique to the document.

I'll revisit this when I have more time for it (one day soon, hopefully).

No problem, if that's the worst thing that happens to me this week I'll be in good shape.

Thanks again

Default Red Hat / Fedora Ports?

Art and/or Dennis,

Are there ports to Red Hat / Fedora available for your plugins?
It appears they are all for Debian 3.0

Thanks

No, sorry - the source code is available, however, so if you know someone that can help compile it, I would be glad to host it. I don't have access to any Linux boxes at the moment, however.
