Default application configuration is incorrect/side-by-side error

If you get a Windows error on starting AC3D which looks like "application configuration is incorrect" or "side-by-side error", reinstall the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package.

32-bit:

64-bit version :

Default Re: application configuration is incorrect/side-by-side error

I was recently faced with this problem. I had been running Windows 7 RC 32-bit and AC3D worked flawlessly. Upgraded to Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and problems occured. Steps I used to fix it:
1. Make sure Windows 7 Updates are installed
2. Install AC3D into Programs folder (NOT the Programsx86)
3. Download and save Microsoft Visual into same Programs folder, then run it.http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
4. Open AC3D successfully!

Notes: I also installed Microsoft Visual for 64-bit from this link to the Programs(x86) Folder:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
I don't think this helped it, but it didn't hurt either.

Let me know if this works for anyone.

Windows 7 x64 Ultimate here - I could still install into "Program Files x86" and only needed to install the VC 2005 runtime - no problems at all.

The only weird thing I've noticed so far is a 4 or 5 second pause when the console window first appears. A minor annoyance at best, though - everything else seems to be working perfectly.

I tried the Visual C++ and different folders and no joy. Are there any other ideas? Running Windows 7 64 on a Core 2 Quad with Nvidia 8800GTS

Unhappy Re: application configuration is incorrect/side-by-side error

I went through the suggested steps described and got nowhere. So I waited and updated Windows 7. I just recently tried it again and got a different message:

"Unable to execute file:
C:\Program Files (x86)\AC3D 6.5.28\ac3d.exe

CreateProcess failed; code 740.
The requested operation requires elevation."

Any thoughts?

I had this problem today and I used 32-bit: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
and run in admin mode for saving models to program files folder on Windows Vista 64 bit.

Default Re: application configuration is incorrect/side-by-side error

I purchased AC3D in late November 2007 (v6.2) and it installs & runs OK. I've downloaded the last 2 upgrades and they have both installed OK but will not run. The error message with both versions have a problem with a particular function in user32.dll. I use W2K and GeForce FX 5200. The version of user32.dll is 5.0.2195.7032 (4/21/2005)Is there a workaround so that I can continue using my current OS?

Thumbs up Re: application configuration is incorrect/side-by-side error

To anyone still having this problem.

Here is a temp. fix if you cannot back track to an older copy of Ac3d.

You can download the trial version of 6.4 from TheGameCreators website at
http://www.thegamecreators.com/?m=view_product&id=2092

Then enter your key, it will activate.

Hopefully it will get fixed soon though.
