Try putting a dome over your scene or just create a large sphere and make sure it encompasses your scene. Flip your normals on it and make it white. You can also use the sphere as your background sky.
There is another method for lightening everything by using a global ambient setting ( forgot how to do it exactly ).
You can also increase the amount of lights used in your area light, but it will slow down your rendering time quite a bit.
