re: material names in collada

When I'm using the collada format, I open a collada file, edit the file and then re-save into collada.
But, for some reason my material names change.
example: in the original imported file I'll have the material name "asphalt1" and then in the exported file I get a material "asphalt1_fx".
Why does AC3C change the material name ??

And one more collada thing.
Under Tools I use Export Selected (which I think is a pluggin).
Can this be added so that you can export selected into the collada format.
