Hopefully someday these improvements can be added:

1>improved and fully working Render-to-Texture plugin (or script).
The current plugin simply does not work very well (if at all).

2>when opening and then re-saving collada files the material names most often get changed.

3>when mapping textures, the front/rear mapping buttons result in the same mapping ......... and the left/right mapping buttons result in the same mapping.
On the other hand when you use the UV mapping plugin ............... it works correctly.
