Align to Grid
I have a small query.... (about Ac3d )
Im importing a 3D object and trying to align it to the grid. The problem I have is that the imported model comes in the middle of the gridlines. With gridsnap when I move it moves the size of the grid (which I suppose it should do) What Im after is to snap the object to the gridline instead. Im sure Im missing something here..... |

Re: Align to Grid
this might note be what you want, but you could try Vertex>Snap-to-grid

Re: Align to Grid
Well it does kind of work.
What I want is that the object boundary snaps to the grid. If I create a box and use vertex snap to grid - the object turns into a single "plane" instead. What Im after is Ac3D to import the 3d object pre-aligned to the left/top edge aligned to the grid........ |

Re: Align to Grid
k heres how
notice on the side bar there is a 'size to' button with x/y/z input boxes before it and a button before the three value boxes, with '>' on it... the '>' button assigns the value boxes the size of the currently selected object. try this: .turn on Grid Snaping .Make a box that is the size you want your model .click the '>' button before the 'size to' values,( notice how the values change. ) .delete the box .open/import your model and select it .click on the 'size to' button Philip |
