Exporting to DirectX
Hi,
I purchased AC3D to export my 3D models to .x Now I'm doing some tests with no good results. Look at this picture http://www.albricci.net/pictures/web/ac3d.JPG I can export a cube but the sphere and the rings doesn't have the textures. I created the rings in 3D studio MAX and I imported them in AC3D before creating the .x object. When I created the ring with AC3D (Ellipse set to poly surface-type -> make a hole), the model is not exported correctly. Is there any tutorials to create a .x object? Am I doing something wrong or there are known limits about the exporter? Thanks in advance for your reply luca |

Hi Luca,
Have a look in the .x file and check the texture paths are valid. Also check that you are using a texture file format that the direct X program you are using supports. Andy |

The pictures are JPG (created and saved with Photoshop) and are in the same directory of my .x file These are the first lines of my .x object Quote:
http://www.albricci.net/pictures/web/ac3d_01.jpg The next picture showes what I get in my directx app when I export an object created as Ellipse set to poly surface-type -> make a hole http://www.albricci.net/pictures/web/ac3d_02.jpg any ideas? luca |

Great looking model!
The direct X picture looks like a LOD of your original shape - strange. Have you tried setting 'triangle only' on the direct X output dialog? Andy |

Ok, I don't know how 8) but I solved the "strange shape" problem. It was my fault.
But the problem about the textures still remains. I can just place them on a cube. When I try to put them on a sphere, a ring or something else, I see them with AC3D but I cannot with my directx application. I did my tests with the default plugin and also with Direct X Export Plugin - Version 1.6 ( Jan 28 2004 ) - by F. Meinert do you need the ac3d file and the jpg to understand what's my fault (I'm sure that the fault is mine)? luca |

Luca,
Yes, it would be the best to get your AC3D files and the exported X files. You can send them to my email address : Frank_Meinert<at>t-online.de No, there are no limits exporting a X file. Better : there should not be any limits :? Frank |

Ok,
problem solved... more or less AC3D and the directx plugin work perfectly. The problem was that some directx applications work just if I compile it. If I run them from Visual Studio, I get those errors. I don't know why... and I don't know how to solve the problem... anyway it's not a problem caused by your program. Thanks a lot to Frank and Andy for your help! I love AC3D  luca |
