Aligning objects with snapgrid OFF
This should be real easy, so I guess I'm missing the obvious...
(1) Turn snap grid OFF (2) Draw 2 rectangles near each other. (Now the bit I can't do) (3) How do I align the right hand edge of one rectangle with the left edge of the other? ie, make the 2 rectangles sit PRECISELY next to each other with no gap between? The obvious answer is snap-to-grid, but that only works if the rectangles were created with gridsnap ON. It's GOT to be simple, but eludes me... |

Yeah, it's pretty easy.
1. Make sure you've enabled Vertice selection. Select the 2 vertices(one from each rectangle) you want to be in the same place 2. Resize the selection so that are on the same spot 3. Menu->Object->Optimize vertices (1 should be removed) 4. Repeat from step 1 for the other 2 vertices Depending on layout of your rectangles you could do step 1 with 4 vertices (2 pairs) in one go. |

I'd do it different.
1. Vertice mode 2. Select on vertice of each object 3. Menu "Vertice" : Snap Objects by vertice The object, who's vertice is selected first, will be move to the secondly selected.
