Lightbulb Better "light" parameters

I would like to see more more comprehensive definitions of a light source to make better use of the extensive light source parameters in POV or other renderers.
Perhaps make lights more like an object with rotations, directionality, color, etc.

yep that would be nice

for povray u can add lights in object property dialog:
- create a simple object
- move it there where u want to have the lightsource, then u can use coordinates of object for the lightsource
- press F9, add something like this:

Code:
//the object wont be visible
no_shadow
no_reflection
no_image
}
light_source {
  <4, 5, 2>
  color White
  area_light <4, 0, 0>, <0, 0,4>, 5, 5
  adaptive 1
  jitter
 }
light_source {<1.6419, 2.1103, 0> color rgb < 1 1 1 >
shadowless
// no } here!

Lightbulb Re: Better "light" parameters

I have done this sort of editing to POV. I found I can insert POV keywords for a lightsource by using the object property editor in AC3D to add those keywords via object data text. This is OK, but it is just not quite enough. This is why I raised the suggestion. Thanx for your feedback. I'll just get better at using POV I suppose.

completly agree, imho a better povray integration would make ac3d much more valuable.

Hi all, I agree that lighting is a bit too basic, what I would like to see is better control over lights, colour and intensity, spot light and flood light, with realistic shadows, then AC3D would make this program a real winner.

What are your Idea's on lighting effect

imho this isnt necesary for a 3d modeling program, but more adjustment possibilities for render programs would be nice (area light n such stuff)
