Default Avenger Class Starship

Alright, I've promised myself that this will be the final incarnation of the ship, which probably means I'm going to abandon this version too:

Unfortunately these are only preliminary examples for my own purposes. I'm just trying to figure out how exactly I'm going to make this all work. The shape's basically what it should be, but I just need to figure all the details out for tweaking and such.

I finished the turbolift for the Avenger class and added new textures and materials. I'll have to change the corridor colors to match. Also, when I rendered this, you might notice the image is grainy. This is how it rendered and I'm not sure why, I didn't add textures or bump maps to them, so I'm finding it somewhat odd.

(The keen observer may note the door-side LCARS displays are backwards)

You've gotten some great results from a very clean model here --- looks fantastic!

I'm working on the corridors as well, here's how that's going:

Unfortunately, it's a very complex and unweildy model. I was dumb enough to boolean some of the pieces and commit to the subdivisions.

And here's how the bridge looks at this juncture:

I have had a lot of trouble getting light to go through the transparent display behind the tactical station though, it's acting like a typical wall. Is this an example of where I should use the photon effect or something of the sort?

Looking good! The hallway, especially, looks very authentic to the series.

You shoudn't need photons to get light to pass through the tactical display. Try playing with the filter and transmit settings; that should get you what you want.

My first post, and I'm looking forward to seeing how this puppy turns out. Complex constructions like yours are something for this AC3D newbee to shoot for.

Thanx-

Since I am a complete doof and saved over my non-subdivided version of the ship model, I decided to make a new one, and this time I kept everything as one object (excluding the bridge, deck 2-4 addition, and the impulse engines)

Here's what I have this time, somewhat different, but mainly the same:

Once I commit the subdivision, I'll be able to cut some of the pieces off and do the more detailed stuff.

And, of course, like the idiot I am, I forgot to redo the graviton shield emitters...

Well, I have the impulse engines fairly well finished. Any suggestions you may have for modifications, changes, or upgrades would be appreciated

Also, I started working on the secondary deflector dish. First time I tried to cut this shape, my computer crashed. Thankfully I have grown out of being lazy and using boolean. I still have to add the more detailed bits.

You'll have to forgive the color scheme. I'm just using it as reference for where each deck is.

I would like to suggest that (looking at the 3-opening end) the 2 rectangular shapes on top, conform their outboard surfaces to the curved shape of the area in which they're sitting.

Also, the dome shape appears to be sitting over another (single) opening, so there isn't much room for whatever that dome is covering.

So you're saying that you did NOT boolean that shape out of the hull?
