Default UV Mapping An Environment

Hi folks,

So, I've just downloaded the plugin for exporting a UV map and it's all very good and everything, but I'm not getting results I can use and I think it's the way I'm actually applying the map in the coordinate editor, but I don't know, so I'm in need of a shove in the right direction.

Basic rundown:

I've created an environment with a steep elevation change and I want to map it. I'm in need of a reference to do this, so I need a UV map. However, I need it to stretch the map where the elevation changes are, as laying this flat map onto the terrain is just giving me a contorted mess.

How would I go about creating a UV like this, please? It's exceptionally high poly and AC3D keeps crashing, so preferably something with not too many steps (I've only managed to move the map three times in the TCE before it crashes). Mapping individual faces is totally NOT an option, it's too high poly, I'll be there well into my 60's (and AC3D will keep crashing). :P

It's quite urgent that I get this done, as I planned to be creating the map tomorrow (today, it's half four in the morning and I'm still awake doing this...)

Thanks,

Glen.
