Thumbs up 3D File Formats needed to increase AC3D sales

I am a licensed AC3D user for many years and have reffered many people to get AC3D.

In order to help increase sales of the AC3D software you should include these 3D formats in the next version and I can assure you that AC3D software sales will increase dramatically.

3D Model formats that should be included in the next version ;

.sm - Battlefield 1942 game

and also the 3D model format for Battlefield 2

I know of at least 23 people that would purchase the AC3D software license if these formats are enabled for importing, editing and exporting in your next version.

While the thought of export formats for games is attractive, I'd suggest limited resources are better spent on a common export format, Collada. It is fast becoming the standard export format for a lot of modelling tools and games.

I have to agree with Mossie, many many engines etc are starting to support Collada. If you are willing to add anything at all .dae would be a good choice.

I nominate Collada aas well, I just started developing for the Blue Mars project and sadly I would have to jump back to either 3dsMax or Maya.... if Collada support is added to Ac3D soon then I can continue using it for nexgen projects....

A while back I needed to import .cob files for a project. Since I found no method of importing Truespace files into AC3D, I was unable to proceed.

There is a low-cost program called Accutrans that is a great conversion tool. It handles .cob and a pile of others. It will convert VRML2 to VRML1 so it can be imported into AC3D also. It costs $20 USD an is worth every penny IMO.
