Default Quick question about hiding vertices

I am a regular user of Abacus Flight Sim Design Studio and am looking to use AC3D to create objects I can use in other 3D packages (FSDS is particularly unhelpful at this). So far I can see a lot of similar methods between the 2 packages but a must have for me is the ability to selected vertices in an object and hide them so I can work on the unhidden vertices. For example, looking at a parallel cylinder from the y axis I would like to select a particular vertex in the top disk but not the paralled one underneath it. To do this in FSDS I would simply select the bottom vertices and hide them but still be able to see the top ones. I seem unable to do that in AC3D, it hides the whole object everytime. Am I missing something as this would seem to me to be a basic requirement? Many thanks

I'm not sure about actually hiding vertices, but at the very bottom left of the screen, there is a checkbox called Select Through. You can uncheck that and it should make it so you don't select the other vertices.

AC3D does not hide vertices (if you select a vertex, and hide or lock, it will hide or lock the entire object). The latest version of AC3D has a Hide surfaces button that will hide selected surfaces, that has been invaluable to me.

Have Fun

Red face Re: Quick question about hiding vertices

OOOOOOOOps I lied, that was a script that Andy sent out for testing during Beta. Andy - is it ok to release that script? Or, do you have it out there somewhere? It really is handy to have.

Thumbs up Re: Quick question about hiding vertices

The surface hiding script has been released by Andy. Go to the scripts section for instructions and the file.

Have Fun
