Newbie initiation
Hello all.
I'm not just an AC3D newbie, I'm also new to free form 3D modeling. My familiarity is in engineering drafting like AutoCAD and Solid Edge. I've been practicing on AC3D 5.0.21, but I'm still having trouble getting started. I need to create a simple character with a bone shaped body (not anatomical but more like a doggie bone) with basic cartoon-like features (eyes, mouth, hand and feet). I don't need any texturing or lighting. Can anyone help me get started? I'm going over the functionality of the software and I see it can do a lot. After seeing some examples, my model seems like it should be a walk in the park. Any advice? Thanks in advance! |

you might want to look at some of the work in progress for making characters I know a few members here that can help you with that hmmm. Andy has done a few and luuckyy has done some good ones you might look at there topics on work in progress or tutorials and how to.
BTW I also am using autocad though its a new program for me I really enjoy what it can do only I wish ac3d had some of autocads functions. it would make modeling easier |

Thanks
Thanks for the advice!
I'll take a look at the sample work and tutorials posted. There really are some great work that I can learn from. My greatest difficulty is trying to get accustomed to the differences between AC3D and the software I'm so used to using. But I agree, I wish that they were similar so I wouldn't be so confused! |

You may also want to look at Dennis' webpage supercoldmilk.com. He has some amusing cartooney characters too.

Yeah, all their heads are amazing. I'm hoping they just subdivided to get the smooth surfaces, or else they're insane!
