Just a thought on Point #2:

1. Most programs seem to interpret AC3D's output in meters, and I work to scale in meters when I fiddle around with the program.

2. It is simple to work in whatever units you like in the program - you can use 1 unit as any measurement you prefer. As long as you know what your scaling factor is, you can size down or scale up the model to whatever unit you choose when it comes to the final model to be exported.
