Ah, sorry, I should have been clearer. I meant open the .obj file for the windsock to see what datarefs it uses.

You can look in AC3D if you like; each of the lines with Object "rotate" in them are animations. If you select one of those and view the X-Plane properties box it'll give you some info about the dateref and values used. The X-plane animation time menu will allow to manipulate the animation, to see what it does.

I recommend opening a few animated objects, in a text editor or AC3D, to see what's inside and to figure out how they work.
