Default Gridlines Request

I just upgraded to 5.0 and I love it! great new features!

Some requests for the next release or patch:

1. Instead of 2 grid levels (light & dark), allow multiple (at least 3 - and 3 would probably be sufficient), and allow them to either be set to levels of grey, colors, or alternate light/dark (I would probably use levels of grey or alternating). This would allow working in m/cm/mm or feet/in/.125in (or something else). If you did 3 levels, you might call them major, minor, and sub-minor or fractional.

2. Allow snap-to-grid to be easily switched between the levels. Thus, I might do most of my work snapping to cm or in (minor grid), but switch to mm or .125in (fractional grid) when necessary.

3. Allow the coordinates to display units, and coordinate units with grid levels if opted. Thus, I would love to be able to do some drawings and see 3.2m, but in another drawing I might want 320cm, and in a third, I might want 10' 6.125". (And, if you really want to go crazy, 10' 6" 1/8", which would correspond to 10 major marks, 6 minor marks, and 1 fractional mark, if the fractional division was set to 8.)

This would be a great help!

What a great product. And 5.0 is fantastic!

Thanks,

Paul

Hi Paul --- pending any resolution on this suggestion, you may wish to try the QuickGrid utility at http://bellsouthpwp.net/a/t/atomicd/ac3dplug/index.html.

You can set your gridlines to varying custom sizes and switch between them with the floating palette interface.

It's not exactly what you're asking for, but may be helpful.
