Reference images and Multiple views best workflow ?

I am very interested in the attached image showing Multiple views.

Please how do Multiple views work ? Are all extra views orthographic ? Do they all save so I can just continue next session ?

Menu Views->New-view.

You can choose the type of view from the menu at the top of each window.

Additional views are not saved.
