Object Library

I am new to AC3D and just installed 8.6.11. In my object library I have some samples,such as the Second Life examples and 30 or so objects. Is that the way it is supposed to be? Is there a place with a bunch of common prebuilt objects to use such as a chair, or a streetlight, for example? I'm happy to contribute models but I don't know if there is a community for this.

Yes, it's designed to be a repository for your objects.

There are many sites where you can download 3D models in many formats that AC3D supports.
