DirectX importer?
Hello all,
I'm trying to modify a 3D model that's used for a free radio-controlled model flight simulator (FMS) and I have only 2 different 3D model files, a .mqo (Metasequoia - http://www.metaseq.net/english/index.html) and a DirectX .x file, neither of which can be currently imported into AC3D (as far as I know). Does anyone know how I can convert either of these files to be imported by AC3D? regards. |

That site says it can save the file in other formats, .obj etc.
Or is your prob you cant get Metaseq... because you're outside Japan?

"FileViewer xp is the export version of FileViewer. The difference between this version and FIleViewer2.54 is that with xp you can import DirectX *.x files (text and binary), import Alias Wavefront *.obj and export to 3D Studio, Auran Jet version 1.1 indexed mesh and milkshape model files."
http://members.optusnet.com.au/~skatic/ Never tried it though. Also truespace 5.5 can import .x files and export in a variety of formats. It is often available at 50% off the list price. griff |

Unwrap 3D, imports .mqo files and imp/exports in formats suitable for AC3D.
Might help? http://www.unwrap3d.com/formats.aspx

Hi inflex,
Ewwwww!! As I said, I have never tried this piece oif software ... just knew it was out there. It does kind of emphasise a problem though. There are more and more little tools being written and there is always a potential for some malacious person to add a virus or piece of spyware Is very sad griff |

Hi Zigma,
I emailed the author about this Trojan issue. Here is reply : -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi, I went to the link. What I see in the link is evidence of a piece of some software reporting that it does contain a Trojan horse. It is up to Zigma to trust the software that gives him the warning as much as he wants. I can assure you that the download contains nothing malicious. And I know it never has and know it never will. The report is wrong! Thankyou, Griff Regards, Steven Katic ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- I did a download and scanned the file for viruses ... nothing. I have read somewhere about virus scanners reporting false positives (Norton maybe???). If the Trojan is identified maybe you should look at what your anti-virus software manufacture says about it. And possibly Google for false positives regards, griff |

Hi,
To those that are interested in the FileViewer and have downloaded it in the last few days: You may have noticed that trying to import an x file crashes the app. Sorry about that: This has now been fixed and loading x files works ok again. You just need to download it again. Regards, Steven Katic |

Re: DirectX importer?
Hi,
I havn't worked with AC3D anymore quite some time. Now I have updated to the latest version. But unfortunately there is still no X file import, although Direct X is on the output/input formats list of the features. So is there still no plugin to import X files? I have installed FileViewer xp, but it doesn't support DDS files. AC3D does support DDS files, but can't import X files. It's a little odd. Kind regards, Willi
