I've been away from character modeling for a bit, drummed up something to keep in practice. Really looking forward to getting more into 3D in the near future...
His jawline is a bit off at the back, and it may be a bit strong in spots, given the extra weight he carries, but he's still a WIP... |

Thanks folks --- good point about the chin, didn't even register for me. Fixed here.
He'll be getting an upper torso/upper arms shortly for a still scene. The Divide Loop plugin was invaluable for adding forehead wrinkles. I'm very glad luuckyy suggested that one --- not sure how I've lived without it for so long ![]() |

Great work Dennis, I am struggling with organic modeling even with Silo 2.0. I think it is amazing that you can do this level of organic work in AC3D.

even though I have just begun organic modeling and have found it somewhat easy Dennis here clearly surpasses my skills. Great job Dennis.

Art, I use edge extrusion for almost all of my human-organic modeling. I learned head modeling using this excellent 3DS-based tutorial: http://www.3dtotal.com/ffa/tutorials...farc/head1.asp Of course, I don't follow this pattern exactly, as AC3D has a different toolset (plus the author of this tutorial is *much* more polygon-efficient than me, and his shapes flow much better than mine usually do), but this guide was invaluable in my learning. I'd also be lost without AC3D's edge extrusion features, and I've come to depend heavily on the Divide Loop plugin. Of course, if you're into the box-extrusion method, that's a completely different subject... ![]() |
