lol, Titch ac3d is a modeler only, to create effects like this or snow and rain you'd have 2 options use a renderer like pov-ray, renderman, and etc. The other way is to use particles, hyper voxels and etc effects. AC3d currently doesn't have these effects if it did I would expect andy to sell ac3d for a little more than $49
Depending on your needs if it's for a game or something then your game engine should have particles implemented and you just make your textures with alpha channels and apply it to your particle emitter in your engine. If the need for fire is for stills then use povray, woody is the resident expert on pov-ray. In the mean time I'll see if I can hunt up a solution if it's for a still.

Pov-Ray has a way to simulate fire by creating an interior media within your object which can get pretty complicated.
The examples that I've seen were ok, but not that great. Using Pov for that effect is hard to control and doesn't give you that fine detail like fine whisps of flame. An easier and simpler way that you can do it is simply find a good flame picture on a black background and create a transparent targa file out of it to where the black area would be transparent. Take that and apply it to your surface.

animated gif textures can be applied to a mesh and can then simulate fire in some rendered scenes - specifically VRML if you use the MOVIEtexture function.
